The Story of Blacki

Some encounters leave a lasting mark on a life. Blacki’s story began on the street, near the restaurant La Grillardière in Guéliz, next to the tennis club in Marrakech.

When we found him, he was in a very alarming condition.
Extremely thin, weak, and sick… Blacki looked as if he had already lost much of his strength after a long period of struggling to survive on the streets.

His nose was completely blocked.
He could barely breathe properly and, most importantly, he could no longer eat. For a cat, the sense of smell is essential for eating. Without smell, appetite disappears.

There was therefore no other option: we immediately took him to a veterinary clinic.

Everything suggested that Blacki had once lived with people. He is an incredibly gentle cat, clearly accustomed to human contact. But like so many others, he was probably abandoned when he became old or sick.

Today, Blacki is about 13 years old.

For the past four years, he has been living with us at the villa, in a quiet room where he can rest and be carefully looked after. His health remains fragile: he suffers from chronic respiratory disease (coryza) and he is also FIV-positive (feline AIDS).

Yet despite his illness, Blacki has an extraordinary personality.

When he is happy, he “sings.”
He lets out loud, expressive meows, as if he wanted to tell his whole life story to the world. It is his way of showing that he is content and that he finally feels safe.

However, Blacki requires constant care.
His nose is often blocked, which makes eating difficult. He needs regular treatment, close monitoring, and appropriate food to continue living comfortably.

Today, Blacki is a brave old cat who deserves to spend the rest of his life surrounded by kindness and care.
