Aladin’s Story

Some stories begin in unexpected places. Aladin’s story began in a trash bin near the tennis club of Marrakech Guéliz.

That is where we found him, still very small, simply trying to survive. Like many kittens born on the street, Aladin was extremely timid. Every noise made him jump. Yet behind that fear was a kitten of incredible gentleness — calm, kind, and deeply endearing.

Over time, Aladin grew up by our side.
Even though he remained a little shy, he was always very gentle and grateful for the safety and attention he received.

But when Aladin was about one year old, something suddenly changed.

We noticed that his breathing had become unusually fast. It wasn’t just normal shortness of breath — something was wrong. Worried, we immediately took him to the Targa veterinary clinic.

There, Dr. Adil examined Aladin and quickly suspected a very serious disease: wet FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), probably affecting the lungs.
It is one of the fastest and most fatal forms of this disease.

At that time, several years ago, a new treatment had only just begun to appear: GS-441524. Very few cats had been treated with this medication, and it was extremely difficult to obtain.

Tablets did not exist yet.

Aladin therefore became one of the very first cats in Marrakech to receive this treatment.

The protocol was demanding:
84 days of daily injections, without interruption.

Every single day — one injection.
For nearly three months.

The treatment dose was 6 mg/kg, adapted to the wet form of FIP.

Those weeks were long and difficult. But little by little, the signs began to improve. His breathing returned to normal, his energy came back, and his small body began to fight again.

Today, several years have passed since this treatment.

And Aladin is living proof that hope exists.

He is now in excellent health, happy, stable, and surrounded by love.
The little kitten found in a trash bin has become a true survivor.

Aladin’s story reminds us that with vigilance, care, and a great deal of determination, even the most terrible diseases can sometimes be overcome.

And for us, Aladin will always remain a small miracle. 🐾
