All the Signs of an Insufficient GS Dosage (FIP)

And My Personal Experience on the Importance of Choosing the Right Product

FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) is a serious disease that requires extreme precision in treatment. GS (GS-441524) has changed the fate of many cats, but its effectiveness depends on two essential factors:

  • The true quality of the product
  • The correct dosage adapted to the cat’s weight and clinical progression

After several weeks of treatment, I understood something important:
👉 A poorly dosed GS or a product with inaccurate concentration can compromise results, even when you believe you are doing everything correctly.

⚠️ 1. Be Very Careful When Choosing GS

Not all GS products are equal.

On the market, there are:

  • Underdosed products
  • Capsules whose actual concentration does not match the label
  • Suppliers without reliable feedback or documented experience

What you should verify:

✔️ Real reviews and documented feedback from other owners
✔️ Serious groups with veterinary guidance
✔️ Transparency about the actual mg per tablet
✔️ Consistency in observed clinical results

⚠️ Many GS products sold as “40 mg” may actually contain less.
And that can completely change a cat’s recovery.

🔎 2. Signs That a Cat Is Not Receiving Enough GS

An insufficient dose does not always mean there is no effect.
The cat may seem better… and then relapse quickly.

Here are the typical signs of underdosing:

📌 Recurring End-of-Day Symptoms

If:

The cat receives the dose in the morning
And by evening:

🌡️ The temperature rises again
😿 The cat stops eating
💤 The cat remains lying down and does not get up
😔 The cat appears weak or depressed

➡️ This often means the blood concentration of GS is dropping too quickly
➡️ Therefore, the dosage is insufficient to control the virus for 24 hours

🧪 3. The Revealing Test: The 4-Hour Response

From my personal experience:

When I increased the dose during a fever spike:

🌡️ The fever dropped within about 4 hours
🐾 The cat started moving again
🍽️ Appetite returned

👉 This means the virus is responding to GS
👉 But the previous dose was not sufficient

This is a very important indicator.

If increasing the dose leads to rapid improvement,
it confirms that the issue is not treatment failure,
but underdosing.

📈 4. What to Do in These Cases

If you observe these signs:

1️⃣ Verify the cat’s exact weight
The calculation must be adjusted precisely.

2️⃣ Reassess the actual concentration of the product
If there is doubt about the mg content, it is safer to recalculate assuming a lower concentration.

3️⃣ Increase the dose carefully
Under veterinary supervision or with guidance from an experienced group.

⚠️ In many neurological or complicated cases, higher doses are required.

🧠 5. What I Learned

A cat relapsing at the end of the day → often underdosed
Rapid improvement after increasing the dose → the virus is reacting
Multiple fever spikes during treatment → dosage needs adjustment
Never stay fixed on the initial starting dose

The virus evolves.
The cat’s weight changes.
The clinical form may require adaptation.

❤️ Important Message

GS saves lives.
But only if it is:

✔️ Authentic
✔️ Properly dosed
✔️ Adjusted according to symptoms

Paying close attention to your cat’s signals is essential.

A rise in temperature in the evening after a morning dose is not “normal.”
It is often a clear message: the dose is not covering a full 24 hours.
